I now I've not posted anything since school started last year, so now I get to either play catch-up or just post what I'm doing now. Here goes:
I spent the winter and part of spring constructing a brooder box and acquiring brood supplies for the chicks that finally arrived on June 3rd.

I learned how to tie flies recently, so I guess I'm still a beginner even though my mom has stolen about half my flies!!!! Here're some pics.
Some of them are a little fuzzy, but I'm still learning how to zoom with the digi cam. All for now, have a great summer!!! Ze Duster!

Here are some interesting pictures of me demonstrating what one should do with those annoying shopping flyers and mailers that pollute our mailboxes almost daily. Please click on them to see full size!!
That's all for now! Enjoy the last day of spring!

The following are pictures of my 'sculptural rendition' of what I learned in my art class, Unit 3 Lesson 7. An artist named Louise Nevelson created a very interesting piece I thought was a carved sculpture until I read about its construction. Her piece is called Dawn's Wedding Chapel IV. Mine is called Copper Seashore.
Hers, like mine, is made from found things and recycled 'trash'. I learned that junk or garbage can be used to create some very beautiful artwork!!!!!

My mom showed me how to make some really interesting 'spoon men' that look like they're swinging on a trapeze. They're made from recycled silverware (mom says flatware because real silverware would tarnish quickly outside). What really amazed me is that she knew exactly what she wanted to do with the forks & spoons. I helped with the placement of where she needed to drill the holes and watched her break a lot of 1/16" drill bits. She said that was because those bits weren't designed to be going through hardened stainless steel and that we need to get some that are.

I had a microscope lab for my Life Science class. I had to dissect a flower. Since it's the middle of winter, I used flowers that my mom grows in our home. Some of the pictures are from dyed daisies and the others are from a red Christmas Cactus. Here are the thumbnails.
1, 2, 5 & 6 are close ups of the pollen, stamen & pestle found inside of a Christmas Cactus flower. Christmas cacti are self pollinating. The actual process of the bloom drying up is what causes the sperm to find the ovum and develop into seeds. You have to be very careful not to disturb the drying blooms or you won't be able to harvest any seeds when the bloom is completely shriveled and dried up.

These are pics of the petals from the daisies. It was too difficult to try to
get views of the pollen because they were commercial flowers and they're not
allowed to pollinate due to breeding.

These are pics of the petals from the Christmas Cactus flower. Their cellular
structure is very, very different from the cellular structure of the daisy
petals.

I made Scottish Teacakes on Tuesday, from a recipe my mom gave me (see thumbnails 1 & 2)!!! I've got to make some more because everyone is devouring them all. I think there are 4 or 5 left.
Thumbnails 3 through 5 are my renditions of Michelangelo's self portrait caricature as he rendered it while working on the Sistine Chapel. Thumbnails 6 & 7 are my drawings of a surfer on a surfboard going down a mountain river.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!!
